  1. 1 lb Well-trimmed boneless beef

  2. top sirloin, cut 1 inch

  3. thick 1/4 c Dry sherry

  4. 1 1/2 tb Reduced-sodium soy sauce

  5. 1 ts Each grated fresh ginger, minced garlic and Oriental

  6. dark-roasted

  7. Sesame oil

  8. 1/4 To 1/2 tsp crushed red

  9. pepper pods

  10. 2 c Cooked linguine

  11. 1/4 c Chopped green onion tops or fresh cilantro

  1. Combine sherry, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, sesame oil and pepper pods.

  2. Place beef steak in plastic bag; add marinade.

  3. Close bag securely and marinate 15 minutes.

  4. Pour off marinade; reserve.

  5. Heat nonstick skillet over medium heat 5 minutes.

  6. Add steak and cook 12 to 15 minutes for rare (140) to medium (160), turning once.

  7. Remove steak; keep warm.

  8. Pour off drippings.

  9. Dissolve 2 tsp cornstarch in reserved marinade and 1/4 c water; add to skillet.

  10. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.

  11. Stir in noodles.

  12. Carve steak into thin slices and serve over noodles.

  13. Sprinkle with green onion.
