  3. 1/2 cup shortening

  4. 1/2 cup each packed light brown sugar and granulated sugar

  5. 2 large eggs

  6. 2 tsp each ground cinnamon and cream of tartar

  7. 1 tsp baking soda

  8. 1 tsp vanilla extract

  9. 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour Coarse orange decorating sugar Filling

  10. 6 oz reduced-fat cream cheese, softened

  1. Cookies: Heat oven to 400ºF. Beat butter, shortening, sugars, eggs, cinnamon, cream of tartar, baking soda and vanilla in bowl with mixer on medium speed until combined. On low speed, beat in flour until dough forms.

  2. Shape Tbsps of dough into balls; dip in decorating sugar. Place sugared-side up on ungreased baking sheet.

  3. Bake 8 minutes until set. Let cookies cool 2 minutes on baking sheet; remove to wire rack to cool completely.

  4. Filling: Beat ingredients in medium bowl with mixer on medium speed until blended and fluffy.

  5. Spread 1 Tbsp filling onto bottom of cookie; press another cookie on top.
