  6. 2 c Flour, all purpose

  7. 1 tb Sugar

  8. 1/2 ts Baking powder

  9. 1/2 ts Baking soda

  10. 1/4 ts Salt

  11. 1/3 c Butter, chilled

  12. 1 ea Egg

  13. 1/2 c Buttermilk

  14. 1 t Vanilla

  15. In large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder,

  16. baking soda and salt. With a pastry blender or two

  17. knives cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse

  18. crumbs. In separate bowl, combine egg, buttermilk and vanilla. Using fork, stir into dry ingredients to form

  19. a soft dough. Gather into ball. Turn out onto

  20. lightly floured surface; knead lightly 10 times. With

  21. lightly floured hands, pat dough in 1/2 in thick

  22. round. Using 2 1/2 in. cookie cutter, cut dough into rounds, gathering scraps together until dough is all

  23. used up. Place rounds on lightly greased baking

  24. 425F (220C) oven

  25. 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown and risen. Let cool on wire racks.
