  2. GERMAN APPLE TORTE

  7. 3/4 c Sugar

  8. 1/2 c Flour

  9. 1 t Baking powder

  10. 1/2 ts Salt

  11. 1 c Peeled, diced apples

  12. 1/2 c Chopped walnuts

  13. 1 t Vanilla or grated rind of

  14. -orange

  15. Quick, easy, and a year round delight!

  16. Beat egg with an electric mixer until light and lemon

  17. colored. Gradually beat in sugar until mixture is

  18. thick and pale. (This beating is very important to

  19. prevent sugariness.) Mix flour, baking powder,salt,

  20. and gently fold into egg mixture. Stir in apples,

  21. walnuts and vanilla. Generously butter an 8 inch

  22. 350 F oven

  23. minutes or until top is golden brown and crunchy.

  24. Serve warm. Serves 6.
