    1. 2 c All-purpose flour

    2. 1 tb Double acting baking powder

    3. 1/2 ts Salt

    4. 1/4 c Unsalted butter

    5. -OR - Shortening

    6. 3/4 c Buttermilk

    1. COMBINE FLOUR, baking powder, salt and butter in a mixer and mix until crumbly.

    2. Add the buttermilk and mix until the dough holds together.

    3. Do not over-mix.

    4. Turn out on a floured surface and roll the dough out to a 3/4-inch thickness.

    5. Cut into rounds or squares.

    6. Place fairly close together on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake in preheated 450F oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
