  1. 4 cups shredded cabbage , firmly packed

  2. 3 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons bacon grease

  3. 1 teaspoon salt (may need less if using bacon grease)

  4. 1 teaspoon sugar

  5. 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

  6. 2 tablespoons cider vinegar

  7. 1/2 cup sour cream

  1. Saute the cabbage in the butter or bacon grease over medium low heat for five to eight minutes, or until the cabbage is soft, but not browned.

  2. Remove from heat, add the remaining ingredients and toss together until thoroughly blended.
