  1. 2 large cucumbers, thinly peeled and sliced

  2. 1 teaspoon salt

  3. 1 1/2 teaspoons granulated sugar

  4. 1 Tablespoon white cider vinegar

  5. 1/2 cup sour cream

  6. 1 teaspoon dill weed, dry

  7. 1/2 teaspoon garlic, minced, optional

  8. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, freshly

  1. Peel cucumbers and thinly slice, almost transparent. Place in colander or large strainer and sprinkle with salt. Let stand 20-30 minues. Squeeze liquid out of cucumbers into drain by using clean hands or using absorbent paper towel(s). Discard paper towel. Meanwhile whisk remaining ingredients together for dressing and pour over cucumbers. Marinate for one hour or to suit taste. Make in the a.m. and serve in the p.m. Best served chilled. (This is my take on an old German-style recipe that I remember fondly.)
