  1. 250g butter, softened

  2. 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed

  3. 2 eggs

  4. 1 1/2 cups plain flour

  5. 2 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda

  6. 1 3/4 cups rolled oats

  7. 1 cup wheat germ

  8. 1 1/2 dark choc bits

  9. 1/2 cup chopped pecan nuts

  1. Beat butter and sugar in a small bowl with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating between additions until combined. Stir in sifted flour and soda, oats, wheat germ, choc bits and nuts.

  2. Roll rounded tablespoons of mixture into balls. Place balls, about 3cm apart, onto oven trays lined with baking paper; flatten slightly using a fork.

  3. Cook in a moderate oven, 180C, for about 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Stand biscuits on trays for five minutes; transfer to a wire rack to cool.
