  1. 1 cup vegetable shortening

  2. 1 cup brown sugar

  3. 2 teaspoons vanilla

  4. 2 cups white flour

  5. 1 teaspoon baking powder

  6. teaspoon salt

  7. 1 to 4 tablespoons water or soy milk

  8. 1 cups chocolate chips

  9. 350 degrees F and oil at least

  10. 2 baking sheets. Beat shortening until fluffy then add brown sugar. Continue beating until brown sugar mixture is smooth. Add baking powder, salt and flour and beat until smooth. If the dry mixture is too thick for your mixer, then add a few tablespoons of water or soy milk at this point. Add vanilla and beat again. Add enough water or soymilk to make a stiff dough, then stir in chocolate chips. Take a heaping teaspoon of dough and drop onto oiled cookie sheet. Bake for ten to twelve minutes (depending on size of cookie) or until cooked through and lightly browned. Cool on wire rack and serve.
