  2. Topping:

  3. 3/4 cup all purpose flour

  4. 1/3 cup brown sugar

  5. 1/2 tsp. baking powder

  6. 1/2 cup cold diced butter

  7. Filling:

  8. 2 pounds Granny Smith apples, cored, peeled and sliced

  9. 1/2 cup raisins

  10. 1/4 cup apple juice

  11. 1/4 cup brown sugar

  12. 1 tsp. ground cinnamon

  13. 1/4 tsp. ground cloves

  1. For Topping:

  2. Combine flour, brown sugar and baking powder in a medium bowl. Add butter and rub with your fingers until moist clumps form.

  3. For Filling:

  4. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine apple slices, raisins, apple juice, sugar, cinnamon and cloves in a large saucepan. Cook about 15 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender. Transfer filling to a 9 inch glass pie dish. Sprinkle topping evenly over apples. Bake crisp about 30 minutes until topping is golden brown. Transfer crisp to a rack and cool 10 minutes before serving.
