  1. 1 package (18-1/4 ounces) yellow cake mix

  2. 2 eggs

  3. 1/4 cup packed brown sugar

  4. 1/4 cup butter, melted

  5. 1/4 cup water

  6. 2 cups (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips, divided

  7. 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

  8. 1 tablespoon shortening

  1. In a large bowl, combine the first five ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in 1-1/2 cups of chocolate chips and nuts. Spread in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Bake at 375° for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Melt shortening with the remaining chocolate chips; drizzle over the top. Cut into bars. Yield: about 3-1/2 dozen.
