  1. Peanut Butter Cookies

  2. 1 cup shortening

  3. 1 cup granulated sugar

  4. 1 cup peanut butter

  5. 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed

  6. 2 eggs, beaten

  7. 1 teaspoon vanilla

  8. 3 cups flour

  9. 2 teaspoons soda

  10. 1/8 teaspoon salt

  11. Cream shortening and sugar by beating the shortening until smooth

  12. and fluffy and then gradually adding the sugar, beating well after

  13. each addition. Continue beating until light and fluffy. Add peanut

  14. butter and beat until well blended. Add eggs and vanilla and stir

  15. until well blended. Sift together the flour, soda, and salt. Add

  16. gradually to sugar mixture, mixing well after each addition. Cover

  17. and chill for 2 hours.

  18. 1 inch in diameter. Place about inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Flatten by making a crisscross

  19. 375 degrees for minutes or until lightly brown and crisp. Cool on rack. When

  20. completely cool pack as crisp cookies.

  21. 6 to 7 dozen cookies
