  2. 2 cups boiling water

  3. 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening

  4. 1 cup rolled oats

  5. 1/2 cup molasses

  6. 2 teaspoons salt

  7. 1/2 yeast cake

  8. 1/2 cup lukewarm water

  9. Flour

  1. Add boiling water to oats and allow to stand one hour.

  2. Dissolve yeast cake in lukewardm water.

  3. Add molasses, salt, vegetable shortening, dissolved yeast cake, and enough flour to make a stiff dough.

  4. Knead well and let rise.

  5. Knead again and divide into two vegetable shorteninged bread pans. Let rise again and bake forty minutes at 450 degrees. .
