  1. 5T butter

  2. 2 lbs sweet onion , sliced thin

  3. 1/2 cup sugar

  4. 1 tsp salt

  5. 1 tsp pepper

  6. 1 cup cabernet

  7. 6T balsamic vinegar

  1. In large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add onions, sugar, salt and pepper. Cook until soft and lightly browned, about 35 minutes. Add wine and vinegar and simmer uncovered 25 minutes. Let cool. (Can refrigerate up to 2 days. Bring to room temp before serving.) Serve on sliced baguette with good quality blue cheese
