  1. 1 recipe chocolate brownies

  2. 500g mascarpone cheese, room temperature

  3. 150g plain chocolate, melted

  4. 350ml whipping cream, whipped

  5. 30g plain chocolate, grated

  6. Optional additions:

  7. raspberries, blackberries, cherries or strawberries

  8. Grand Marnier, Kahlua, amaretto or rum

  9. crushed Amaretti biscuits

  1. First, prepare the brownies according to the recipe instructions, and allow them to cool. Once cool, break the brownies apart into approximately 5cm pieces. (You can prepare the brownies a day in advance, or use shop-bought.)

  2. To make the chocolate mascarpone, first melt the chocolate in the microwave or in a double boiler. Beat together the mascarpone and cooled melted chocolate.

  3. In a trifle bowl or glass serving dish, place half of the brownies, half of the chocolate mascarpone and half of the whipped cream. Repeat layers. Grate chocolate onto top layer for garnish. Refrigerate for a few hours before serving for best results.
