  2. 3 tablespoons butter

  3. 2 cups canned tomatoes

  4. 1 1/2 cups hot water or stock

  5. 2 tablespoons onion flakes

  6. 3 teaspoons salt

  7. 1/2 teaspoon sugar

  8. 1/8 teaspoon thyme

  9. 1/2 pound raw shrimp -- peeled

  10. 3 tablespoons flour

  11. 1/4 cup tomato paste

  12. 1/2 cup diced green pepper

  13. 2 tablespoons chopped parsley

  14. 2 teaspoons chili powder

  15. 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

  16. 2 cups diced -- cooked ham

  17. 1 teaspoon lemon juice

  1. Melt butter in a 2.5 qt heavy saucepan. Remove from heat. Blend in flour and cook over low heat until the mixture is a medium to dark brown. Remove from heat and add the next 11 ingredients. Simmer 20 minutes, covered. Add ham, shrimp and lemon juice. Cook uncovered, for 10 minutes or until shrimp turn pink. Serve over hot cooked rice.
