  1. Papas Con Carne

  2. 1 lb. stew meat

  3. 4 potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes

  4. 16 oz. can tomato sauce

  5. 1 tsp. comino powder

  6. 1 or 2 cloves garlic (minced)

  7. 1/4 cup oil

  8. water 2 tsp. cilantro

  9. salt to taste

  10. pepper to taste

  11. Brown the meat in oil in a dutch oven or lg. pan. While meat is

  12. browning, in a bowl mix tomato sauce, comino (cumin), garlic and cilantro. When the meat is brown, add potatoes and cook for 5

  13. minutes, stirring frequently. Add the tomato mixture and enough

  14. water to cover all the ingredients, and cook til potatoes are

  15. tender.

  16. Note: For a tastier stew, simmer the browned meat with tomato mixture

  17. 2 cups of water for about 30 - 45 minutes, then add the

  18. rest of the ingredients and cook til potatoes are done. You can

  19. also add a can of green beans or peas towards the end of the cooking

  20. time.

  21. Serve with French bread.
