  1. 1 kilogram chicken -- cut up **Dry Roast**

  2. 2 teaspoons coriander seeds

  3. 8 dried Kashmiri chiles

  4. 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds

  5. 1 teaspoon fenugreek seeds

  6. 5 peppercorns

  7. 2 teaspoons peanuts (unsalted)

  8. 1/4 cup coconut, grated **

  9. 1 teaspoon turmeric

  10. 4 cardamom pods, use seeds only

  11. 6 cloves

  12. 1 1 inch piece cinnamon

  13. 1 lemon, juice of salt to taste

  1. Preparation : Cut chicken up into desired pieces. Dry roast the spices and coconut in a large pan (until coconut is a light brown, taking care not to burn the spices). Add the turmeric, cardamom, cloves and cinnamon to the roasted spices and grind to a powder. Fry the spice mixture in some ghee for a few minutes. Add the chicken and brown. Add salt and a little water and simmer until chicken is cooked. Sprinkle lemon juice over dish a few minutes before serving.
