  1. 2 Instant yeast

  2. 1/2 cup 118ml Warm water

  3. 3 tablespoons 45ml Butter - melted

  4. 3 Egg yolks

  5. 2 cups 125g / 4.4oz Flour

  6. 1/2 cup 99g / 3 1/2oz Sugar

  7. 1 teaspoon 5ml Salt

  8. 2 cups 125g / 4.4oz All-purpose flour

  9. 1 cup 237ml Milk - (to 1 1/2 cups)

  10. Vegetable oil - for frying

  11. Confectioners' sugar

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk the yeast and water together. Add the butter and eggs. Whisk well. Add the flour, sugar and salt. Whisk well. Add the milk, a little at a time until the mixture resembles a batter. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and allow the dough to rest for 1 hour.

  2. Preheat the oil to 360 degrees. Using a spoon, drop the batter into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 3 to 4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels. Place the fried sweet dough in a paper bag and add powdered sugar. Shake the bag a couple of times and serve warm.
