  2. 1/2 c Brown sugar, packed

  3. 1/3 c Honey

  4. 1/3 c Butter or margarine

  5. 1/3 c Shortening

  6. 1 1/2 ts Salt

  8. 1 c Herman sourdough starter; se

  9. 1 1/2 c Applesauce

  10. 1 ts Vanilla

  11. 1 ts Rum extract

  12. 1 1/3 c All-purpose flour; white

  13. 1/2 c Whole wheat flour

  14. 3/4 ts Ground cinnamon

  15. 1/2 ts Ground allspice

  16. 1/2 ts Ground cloves

  17. 1/2 ts Baking soda

  18. 1 ts Baking powder

  19. 1 c Chopped walnuts; optional

  20. 1 c Raisins; optional Cream together the sugars, honey, butter, shortening and salt until light and fluffly. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing thoroughly. Add Herman starter, applesauce, vanilla and rum flavoring. In another bowl, combine flours, spices, baking soda and baking powder. Mix thoroughly with a wire whisk. Fold into creamed mixture. Fold in chopped walnuts and raisins if using them. Pour into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan or use a bundt pan. Bake at
