  1. Bean Patties

  2. 4 servings 16 oz. can garbanzo beans, rinsed and well-drained

  3. 1/2 cup shredded lowfat cheddar cheese

  4. 1/4 cup dry bread crumbs

  5. 2 tablespoons chopped green onions

  6. 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  7. 1/4 teaspoon pepper

  8. 1/8 teaspoon salt

  9. 1 egg white

  10. 4 hamburger whole wheat buns

  11. 4 slices large tomato

  12. 4 lettuce leaves

  13. Spray a 10-inch nonstick skillet with cooking spray. Mash the beans

  14. in a medium bowl. Mix in the cheese, bread crumbs, onions,

  15. worcestershire sauce, pepper, salt and egg white.

  16. Shape mixture into 4 patties. Cook patties over medium heat about 5 minutes on each side, until lightly browned.

  17. Serve on a bun with tomato, lettuce and regular burger stuff

  18. Note: Would you like to make your own bread crumbs to ensure

  19. 8 slices of bread into 1-inch cubes and arrange in

  20. a single layer on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake in a 350 degree

  21. 15 to 20 minutes or until cubes are thoroughly dry and tops turn a medium brown. Toss into your food processor and grind

  22. into a coarse powder. May be stored in refrigerator in a tightly

  23. sealed container for several days. Makes 1 1/2 cups.
