  1. 2 tablespoons butter or margarine

  2. 1 medium onion, finely chopped (1/2 cup)

  3. 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped (1 teaspoon)

  4. 2 cups ketchup

  5. 1 cup vinegar

  6. 1 cup maple syrup

  7. 1/2 cup orange juice

  8. 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce

  9. 2 tablespoons ground mustard

  10. 2 tablespoons lemon juice

  11. 1 teaspoon salt

  12. 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

  13. 1/2 teaspoon paprika

  14. 2 slices lemon, seeds removed

  1. In 3-quart saucepan, heat butter over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook 8 to 9 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender.

  2. Stir in remaining ingredients. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low; simmer 30 minutes to blend flavors, stirring occasionally.

  3. Remove and discard lemon slices. Store covered in the refrigerator up to 2 weeks.
