  1. 1/4 cup sugar

  2. 1/4 cup cider vinegar

  3. 1 teaspoon salt

  4. 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

  5. 1/2 cup vegetable oil

  6. 4 boneless, skinless, broiler-fryer chicken breasts, cooked, cut into small pieces

  7. 1 (8-ounce) can water chestnuts, drained, sliced

  8. 3 green onions with tops, chopped

  9. 1/4 cup sesame seeds, toasted

  10. 1/3 cup sliced almonds, toasted

  11. 1 tablespoon poppy seeds

  12. 1 (3-ounce) can chow mein noodles

  13. 1 medium head iceberg lettuce, broken into small pieces

  1. Prepare Dressing: In pint jar, combine sugar, cider vinegar, salt and pepper. Add vegetable oil and shake to mix well.

  2. Prepare Chicken: In large bowl, combine chicken, water chestnuts, green onions, sesame seeds, almonds and poppy seeds. Pour Dressing over chicken mixture and toss gently to mix well. Refrigerate until chilled, about 2 hours.

  3. At serving time, mix chicken mixture with noodles and lettuce.
