  1. 1 cup butter or margarine

  2. 1 8-ounce pkg cream cheese

  3. 1 1/2 cups sugar

  4. 1 teaspoon baking powder

  5. 1 teaspoon vanilla

  6. 1/2 teaspoon almond extract

  7. 1 egg

  8. 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour

  9. Beat butter or margarine and cream cheese in a large mixer bowl with an electric mixer on medium to high speed about 30 seconds or until softened and blended. Add sugar, baking powder, vanilla, and almond extract; beat until combined. Add egg; beat until thouroughly combined. Beat or stir in flour.

  10. 1 1/2 hours. Roll each portion of dough on a lightly floured surface to

  11. 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. If desird, sprinkle with candies or colored sugar. Bake at

  12. 375 F for 7 to 9 minutes till edges are firm and bottoms are browned. Cool. Decorate as desired.
