  1. 1 cup Butter or margarine; softened

  2. 1 1/2 cup Sugar

  3. 1 Egg; lightly beaten

  4. 2 tablespoons Corn syrup; light

  5. 2 tablespoons Orange peel; grated

  6. 1 tablespoon Cold water

  7. 3 1/4 cup All-purpose flour

  8. 2 teaspoons Baking soda

  9. 2 teaspoons Ground cinnamon

  10. 1 teaspoon Ground ginger

  11. teaspoon Ground cloves

  12. DECORATIONS; optional

  14. Sugar

  15. Red hot candies

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add egg, corn syrup, orange peel and cold water. Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger and cloves; ad to creamed mixture and mix well. Chill for at least an hour. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough, a portion at a time, to ⅛-inch thickness.

  2. Cut into desired shapes. Place on greased baking sheets. Decorate as desired. Bake at 375 degrees for 6-8 minutes or until lightly browned.
