  1. Pine Nut Crescents

  2. 2 cups flour

  3. 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg

  4. pinch salt

  5. 2/3 cup butter or margarine, softened

  6. 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar

  7. 2 egg yolks

  8. 1 Tablespoon grated orange rind

  9. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  10. 2 Tablespoons honey

  11. 3/4 cup pine nuts

  12. In a bowl stir together flour, nutmeg and salt; set aside. Preheat

  13. oven to 350 degrees. In a mixer bowl, combine butter and brown

  14. sugar; beat until fluffy. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating

  15. well after each addition. Blend in orange rind and vanilla. Gradually

  16. add flour mixture, beating until thoroughly combined. Using about 1 Tablespoon dough for each cookie, shape dough into a strand about 3 inches long, then curve into a crescent. Place crescents about 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Heat honey in a small

  17. pan over low heat until fluid and warm to the touch. Lightly brush

  18. honey over the tops and sides of crescents, then liberally coat

  19. with pine nuts, pressing them in gently. Bake until cookies are

  20. golden (10-12 minutes). Let cool on baking sheets 1-2 minutes,

  21. then transfer to wire racks to complete cooling. Makes 30.
