  1. 1/2 lb. raw shrimp

  2. 1/2 cup green onion s, chopped

  3. 1/4 cup flour

  4. 1/4 cup water

  5. 1 egg

  6. 1 tablespoon cornstarch

  7. 1 teaspoon salt

  8. 1/4 teaspoon sugar

  9. 1/4 teaspoon sesame oil

  10. dash of white pepper

  11. canola oil

  12. 5 slices of bread

  1. Peel shrimp, make a shallow cut lengthwise down back of each shrimp; wash out vein. Cut shrimp lengthwise in half; cut each half crosswise in half. Pat shrimp dry with paper towel.

  2. Mix shrimp, green onions, flour, egg, cornstarch, salt, sugar, sesame oil and white pepper.

  3. Heat 1½" oil in a wok at 350. Remove crusts from bread; cut each slice into 4 squares. Place 1 to 2 pieces of shrimp with sauce on each square of bread.

  4. Fry 5 squares at a time for about 2 minutes or until golden brown, turning frequently; drain on paper towels.

  5. Serve immediately.

  6. Can be made up to 3 hours ahead of time; reheat in 425 oven for 5 minutes.
