  1. 3 to 4 large baking potatoes, pared and sliced Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

  2. 4 bacon strips, cooked

  3. 1 large onion, sliced

  4. 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  5. 1/2 cup butter, cut into pieces

  1. Place potatoes on large piece of extra-strength foil. Season with salt and pepper. Crumble bacon over potatoes. Add onion and cheese; dot with butter. Wrap loosely and seal well with a double fold. Place on a baking sheet. Bake in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 1 hour or until potatoes are tender, turning package occasionally.
