  2. 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

  3. 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  4. 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

  5. 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

  6. 1 teaspoon salt

  7. 2 large eggs

  8. 1 cup milk

  9. 1/2 cup vegetable oil

  10. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  11. 1 cup boiling water Chocolate Frosting:

  12. 1/2 cup butter

  13. 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  14. 3 cups powdered sugar

  15. 1/3 cup milk

  16. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  1. Heat oven to 350 °F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans; set aside. For Cake: Combine sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla; beat on medium speed of mixer 2 minutes. Stir in boiling water. Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely. For Chocolate Frosting: In medium bowl beat butter, cocoa, powdered sugar, milk and vanilla to spreading consistency, adding additional milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, if needed. Frost sides and top of cake.
