  1. 2 lbs 908g / 32oz Firm Granny Smith apples

  2. 2 tablespoons 30ml Fresh lemon juice

  3. 1 cup 237ml Water

  4. 1/4 teaspoon 1 1/3ml Ground cinnamon

  5. Sugar substitute equal to 3 tbspns sugar

  1. Pare apples very thin, preferably with a vegetable parer. Remove cores; cut apples into 8 to 12 slices, then into bite-sized pieces.

  2. Measure 6 cups into a large heavy pot; add lemon juice and water; mix well. Bring to a boil; cover and cook gently until apples are very soft and tender.

  3. Remove from heat; add cinnamon and sweetener; mix thoroughly with a wooden spoon (a metal spoon may darken the sauce). Pack into jars, cover, and store in refrigerator. Serve warm or chilled.

  4. This recipe yields 3 cups. Serving size: 1/3 cup.
