  1. MMMMM-- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.04

  2. Title: Spinach And Olive Pie.

  6. 2 c Flour

  7. 1/2 lb Unsalted butter

  8. 1/2 ts Salt

  9. 1 Egg yolk

  10. 3 tb Ice water.


  12. 3 lb Yellow Onions, thinly sliced

  13. 2 tb Unsalted butter

  14. 1 c Oil cured black olived,

  15. Halved and pitted

  16. 12 Anchovy fillets

  17. Salt and pepper (fresh

  18. Ground) to taste.

  19. Crust:

  20. cut the butter into the flour, and work with your fingers until it

  21. looks like corn meal (note if you have a warm kitchen, it will make a

  22. smooth dough. Do not a dd more flour). Add the salt, and mix. Beat

  23. the egg yolk into the ice water, and add to a well in the center of

  24. the flour. Work with the heel of your hand un til smooth. Shapte

  25. into a ball, wrap in plastic, and place in teh refrigerator for one

  26. hour.

  27. Filling:

  28. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat, and add teh

  29. onions. Stir continually until soft and lightly browned (about 15

  30. minutes), keeping the heat low so they don't burn. Remove from heat,

  31. and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  32. Remove the dough from the fridge, and roll out to make a thick (1/4")

  33. crust. Place the Anchovy fillets in a star shaped pattern along the

  34. 1/2 the olives. Add

  35. 1/2 the onions, followed

  36. by the rest of the olives, and then the rest of the onions. The pie

  37. is open on top, so don't cover.

  38. 375 degree oven, and bake for 40 minutes to an hour, until

  39. the crust is lightly browned, and the onions are brown.

  41. Notes: I don't know what this tastes like, since it got eaten before

  42. I got through the line.
