  2. 2 cups 474ml Yogurt

  3. 2 Garlic - minced

  4. 2 Onions - chopped (medium)

  5. 1 teaspoon 5ml Ground paprika

  6. 2 teaspoons 10ml Gingerroot - finely chopped

  7. 1/8 teaspoon 0.6ml Pepper

  8. 2 tablespoons 30ml Chicken stock

  9. 2 teaspoons 10ml Ground coriander

  10. 1/2 teaspoon 2 1/2ml Ground chile

  11. 1 teaspoon 5ml Ground cumin

  12. 1/8 teaspoon 0.6ml Peeled cardamom pods

  13. 1 teaspoon 5ml Poppy seeds

  14. 1 teaspoon 5ml Ground turmeric

  15. 1 Bay leaf

  16. 2 tablespoons 30ml Cilantro - chopped

  1. Recipe Instructions Cut up chicken into serving-sized pieces. Marinate chicken in a mixture of yogurt, 1 clove of the garlic, 1/2 onion, paprika, gingerroot and pepper, covered, a few hours. Saute remaining garlic and onions in 2 tablespoons stock until soft. Add coriander, chile, cumin, cardamom, poppy seeds and turmeric and saute 2-3 minutes. Add chicken, remaining marinade and cover with water. Add bay leaf and simmer about 45 minutes or until chicken is tender. Sprinkle with cilantro. Serve over rice.
