    4. 1 teaspoon onion juice

    5. 1 tablespoon of butter

    6. 1 tablespoon of flour

    7. 1 pint of milk

    8. Salt and pepper

    9. 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce

    1. Stew tomatoes until soft and then rub them through a colander.

    2. Add soda and onion juice and return to the heat.

    3. Put butter and flour in another saucepan and cook until they bubble. Then pour a pint of milk upon them.

    4. When the milk thickens, add the tomatoes.

    5. Season with salt and pepper, and just before serving add a teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce. .
