  1. 3 tb Ghee

  2. 1 md Onion, chopped

  3. 1/2 ts Turmeric

  4. 2 ea Bay leaves

  5. 4 ea Cloves

  6. 4 ea Black peppercorns

  7. 2 ea 1" cinnmaon sticks

  8. 2 ea Black cardamom pods

  9. 2 c Brown rice, presoaked

  10. 3/4 c Water

  11. 3 tb Green peas

  12. 1 ts Salt

  13. 1 pn Saffron

  1. Heat ghee in a skillet.

  2. Saute onion over a medium heat till golden.

  3. Reserve some of the onion for garnishing later.

  4. Add turmeric to the skillet.

  5. Stir & heat briefly.

  6. Add the rest of the spices in order.

  7. Mix well.

  8. Add the rice & stir a few times.

  9. Pour over water, stir & bring to a boil.

  10. Reduce heat, mix in peas & salt, cover & cook for 10 to 15 minutes.

  11. Sprinkle with saffron & reserved sauted onion.

  12. Serve hot.
