  2. OATMEAL BURGER BUNS

  6. 1 pk Active dry yeast

  7. 1/4 c Warm water

  8. 1/4 c Molasses

  9. 4 tb Dairy free margarine

  10. 2 ts Salt

  11. 1/4 c Brown sugar

  12. 2 c Oatmeal (uncooked)

  13. 1 c Boiling water

  14. 1 c Cool water

  15. 2 c Whole wheat flour

  16. 2 1/2 c Unbleached white flour

  17. 1/4 cup warm water and stir yeast and tablespoon of the molasses in the water. Let stand until bubbly.

  18. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine margarine,

  19. remaining molasses, salt, brown sugar, oatmeal and the

  20. boiling water, stirring until margarine melts.

  21. Add cool water and yeast to above mixture. Beat in 4

  22. cups of the flour, 1 cup at a time.

  23. Turn out the dough onto a floured board and knead

  24. until smooth, about 5 minutes, adding more flour as

  25. needed to prevent sticking. Turn dough over in a

  26. greased bowl; cover and let rise ina warm place until

  27. 1 hour

  28. Punch dough down and divide into 16 equalpieces.

  29. Shape each piece into a smooth ball. Place balls about 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets and flatten

  30. slightly. Cover and let rise in a warm place until

  31. doubled (30 or 40 minutes.)

  32. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven until lightly

  33. browned, about 20 minutes.

  34. Note: This recipe can be shaped into 2 loaves and placed in greased 9 x 5-inch loaf pans. Allow to rise

  35. 350 degree oven about minutes or until bread sounds hollow when tapped on

  36. bottom.
