  2. 1/2 cup butter

  3. 6 cloves garlic -- chopped

  4. 2 teaspoons dried basil

  5. 1 pound medium shrimp -- shelled

  6. 2 whole green onions -- chopped

  7. lots of ground black pepper

  8. 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

  9. grated zest of 1 large lemon

  10. 1/2 teaspoon hot red pepper flakes

  11. 2 teaspoons dried oregano

  12. 1/2 cup finely chopped parsley

  13. salt

  14. 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

  1. Melt butter in a large, heavy skillet. Add lemon zest, garlic, red pepper flakes, basil, and oregano, and cook 2 minutes. Add shrimp and saute until opaque, about 4 minutes. Add parsley, green onions, salt and pepper, and cook 1 minute. Stir in lemon juice and cook another minutes, then toss with hot pasta and Parmesan cheese, and serve at once. Serve with or without extra grated cheese. RECOMMENDED PASTA: 3/4 pound spaghetti or linguine.
