  1. 1 tablespoon 15ml Vegetable oil

  2. 1 lb 454g / 16oz Sweet Italian sausage - casing removed

  3. 1 cup 62g / 2 1/5oz Chopped onion

  4. 1/2 cup 73g / 2.6oz Chopped green bell pepper

  5. 1/2 cup 73g / 2.6oz Chopped red bell pepper

  6. 2 Garlic cloves - finely chopped

  7. 12 cups 2844ml Cubed (1 1/2") Italian or French bread

  8. 1-lb loaf

  9. 2 cups 292g / 10oz Shredded mozzarella cheese - (8 oz)

  10. 3 cups 711ml Nestle Carnation evaporated milk

  11. 12-oz cans

  12. 1 3/4 cups 414ml Libby's 100% pure pumpkin - (15-oz can)

  13. 4 Large eggs

  14. 1 teaspoon 5ml Salt

  15. 1/2 teaspoon 2 1/2ml Freshly-ground black pepper

  16. 1/2 teaspoon 2 1/2ml Dried oregano - crushed

  17. 1/2 teaspoon 2 1/2ml Dried basil - crushed

  18. 1/2 teaspoon 2 1/2ml Dried marjoram - crushed

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13- by 9-inch baking pan.

  2. Heat vegetable oil in large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausage, onion, bell peppers and garlic. Cook, stirring to break up sausage, for 7 to 10 minutes or until sausage is no longer pink; drain.

  3. Combine bread cubes, cheese and sausage mixture in large bowl. Beat evaporated milk, pumpkin, eggs, salt, pepper, oregano, basil and marjoram in medium bowl. Pour over bread mixture, pressing bread into milk mixture. Pour into prepared baking pan. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until set. Serve warm.

  4. This recipe yields 12 servings.
