Carolina Apple Cake

    1. Mix: 1 1/2 c Cooking oil

    2. 2 c Sugar

    3. 4 Eggs beaten

    4. Sift: 3 c All purpose flour

    5. 1 ts Salt

    6. 2 ts Vanilla

    7. Add: 1 ts Baking soda

    8. 3 c Diced peeled apples

    9. 1 c Chopped nuts

    10. Sauce: 1 ts Butter

    11. 1 c Brown sugar

    12. 1/4 c Milk

    13. 1 tb Vanilla

    1. Recipe by: Governor James B. Hunt Jr., North Carolina Simmer Sauce for 3 minutes, then pour over warm cake. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. JO's note: are you supposed to cook the cake and then serve it with the prepared sauce over it, or prepare the sauce and pour over cake batter and THEN bake?
