  1. 2 cups all purpose flour

  2. 4 tsp baking powder

  3. 1/2 tsp salt

  4. 2 tbsp shortening

  5. 1 cup milk

  1. Stir flour, baking powder and salt together. Work in shortening with tips of fingers or pastry blender. Add milk gradually and mix with a fork to a soft dough. Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto hot stew mixture, allowing space for the dumplings to rise. Cover pot and boil hard for 12 to 14 minutes. Do not lift cover during cooking. Serve hot. Very good dumplings!
