  1. 1 1/2 c Cornmeal

  2. 1 1/2 ts Baking powder

  3. 3/4 ts Baking soda

  4. 1/2 ts Sugar

  5. 1/2 ts Salt

  6. 1 1/2 c Buttermilk

  7. 1 Egg, beaten

  1. Sift together cornmeal, baking powder, soda, sugar, and salt; stir in buttermilk and egg, mixing well.

  2. Heat well greased cast iron corn stick pans in a 400 degree oven for 3 minutes or until very hot.

  3. Spoon batter into pans, filling two thirds full.

  4. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes or until lightly browned.
