  1. 1 cup rolled oats

  2. 1 cup buttermilk

  3. 1/2 cup vegetable oil

  4. 1 egg

  5. 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

  6. 1 cup all-purpose flour

  7. 1 teaspoon baking powder

  8. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  9. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  1. Mix oats with buttermilk. Let stand for 1/2 hour. Stir oil, egg, and brown sugar into oat mixture. Stir together flour, baking powder, soda, and salt: mix into oat mixture. Pour batter into a greased and floured 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 55 to 60 minutes, or until done.
