  5. --CRISCO CRUST--

  6. 2 c All-purpose flour

  7. 1 c Crisco shortening

  8. 1/2 c Ice water

  9. 1/4 c Milk

  10. 1/4 c White sugar

  11. --APPLE FILLING--

  12. 6 c Tart apples,peeled

  13. 1 x And thinly sliced 1/2 c White sugar

  14. 1/2 c Brown sugar

  15. 1 ts Cinnamon

  16. 2 tb Lemon juice

  17. 1/4 ts Salt

  18. 1/4 ts Nutmeg

  19. 1 tb Butter

  20. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.For crust,combine flour

  21. and salt in mixing bowl.Cut in shortening with pastry

  22. blender or 2 knifes until mixture is uniform.Add

  23. water;toss lightly with a fork until dough forms a

  24. ball.Divide dough into 2 parts.

  25. On lightly floured surface,roll bottom crust into 1/8 thick and about 1 1/2 larger than

  26. inverted 9 pie plate.Gently, ease dough into pie

  27. plate,being careful not to stretch dough.Trim edge

  28. even with pie plate.

  29. For apple filling:Combine all ingredients in mixing

  30. bowl.Stir until mixed well.Spoon into unbaked pie

  31. shell.

  32. Use remaining half of dough to roll top crust,as

  33. instructed for bottom crust.Lift onto filled pie.Trim

  34. 1/2 beyond edge of pie plate.Fold top edge under

  35. bottom crust;flute as desired.Cut slits or design in

  36. top crust to allow steam to escape.Brush top crust

  37. 450 degrees

  38. 20 minutes.Reduce heat to

  39. 350 degrees;bake an

  40. 25 to 30 minutes or until crust in golden

  41. brown.Cool and serve--
