  1. Shoo-fly Pie with a Wet Bottom and a Creamy Top

  2. pastry for a deep, one-crust, 9" pie

  3. 3/4 cup boiling water

  4. 1 cup dark molasses

  5. 1/2 teaspoon soda

  6. 1 1/2 cups sifted flour

  7. 1 cup brown sugar

  8. 3/4 cup shortening

  9. 1/4 teaspoon salt

  10. whipped cream Pour boiling water over the soda in a bowl and stir in the molasses.

  11. Pour into the pie shell.

  12. Mix the top part ingredients into crumbs and sprinkle over the

  13. molasses mixture.

  14. 350degF oven for 30 to 40 minutes.

  15. Let it cool and slather it with whipped cream.
