  4. 1/2 c Molasses

  5. 1/2 c Sugar

  6. 1/2 c Butter

  7. 1 ea Egg, well beaten

  8. 2 1/2 c Sifted all-purpose flour

  9. 1/4 t Salt

  10. 1/4 t Baking soda

  11. 1/2 t Ginger

  12. 1/2 t Cinnamon Heat molasses in small saucepan to boiling point. The boil

  13. 1 minute. Add

  14. sugar and butter and stir until butter is melted. Cool. Beat in egg.

  15. Sift together flour, salt, soda and spices. Add to first mixture and mix

  16. thoroughly.

  17. Cover bowl tightly and chill overnight. Roll out a portion of the dough

  18. at a time on lightly floured pastry cloth. Roll out thin. Cut into desired shapes.

  19. 6 to 8 minutes.

  20. Yield: 10 dozen cookies

  21. Note: The dough may be shaped into a roll and wrapped in waxed paper.

  22. Chill thoroughly overnight or longer. Slice thin and bake in moderate

  23. oven (350). These should be stored in an air-tight container - allow

  24. flavor to "ripen". --
