  1. Salsa Picante

  2. 4 small tomatoes, peeled, about 1 lb

  3. 1 onion, coarsely chopped

  4. 1 garlic clove

  5. 4 jalapeno chiles, peeled and seeded

  6. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  7. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  8. Cut the tomatoes in half and cut out the stems. Place in a blender

  9. or food processor with the onion and garlic. Blend just until

  10. tomatoes are chopped but not pureed. Add the chiles. Blend a few

  11. seconds or until chopped. Heat the oil in a medium saucepan. Add

  12. the chile mixture and the salt. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and 10 minutes. Makes

  13. 2 cups

  14. Reduce the chiles for a milder sauce.
