  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 F.

  2. cup Crisco Butter-flavored stick at room temperature 6 Tablespoons butter (Land of Lakes)softened 3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed 1/2 cup granulated sugar 2 large eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour, sifted with 3 ingredients following 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon salt(optional) 3 1/4 cups Quaker Oats(Old Fashioned) uncooked 1 cup raisins(brown or golden)with 1 teaspoon flour or* 1 cup chocolate covered tart dried cherries, chopped or 1 cup craisins or 1 cup dried apricots, minced, finely chopped 1 cup dates, finely chopped 1 cup dried strawberries, finely chopped 1 cup banana chips, crumbled 1 cup fruitcake mix/peel, finely chopped 1 cup pecan pieces, broken up 1 cup cashew pieces, chopped 1 cup peanuts, chopped 1 cup butterscotch morsels 1 cup walnut pieces, chopped 1 cup M & M's, little minature size 1 cup chocolate chips, minature 1 cup white chocolate chips 1 cup macadamia nuts, chopped In large mixing bowl, cream shortening and butter until creamy. Add sugars and continue creaming on medium speed of electric mixer. Add eggs and vanilla extract, beat well. On wax paper, sift flour,baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Add to creamed mixture, mixing until combined. Add oatmeal and flour coated raisins*, stirring in. Dough will be stiff. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls (or make into walnut-sized ball with plastic gloved hands) onto ungreased foil lined cookie sheets. Place each cookie 2-inches apart. Place in 350 F. oven in center rack. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until light golden brown in color. Cool on baking sheet for 1 minute. With spatula carefully remove to wire rack and finish cooling. Store tightly covered with wax paper liner between stacks. * can use chopped dried apricots,dried crumbled banana chips, pecans,walnuts, peanuts(peanutbutter)coconut,craisins,chocolate covered dried cherries, chopped dates dried blueberries, chocolate covered raisins, white chocolate covered fruit, glace' chopped fruitcake mix/peel. I haven't tried kiwi fruit. I did try the "strawberries" from cereal box and "The Great Grain Cereal" to see if I would like that combination. Some worked out tasty enough but I suggest YOU the baker try for your taste appeal. Recipes are for learning to cook.
