  1. 4 Tart cooking apples; pared

  2. Cut into thin slices 3 tb Margarine; melted

  3. 1/4 c Sugar

  4. 2 tb Sugar

  5. 1/4 c Raisins or currants

  6. 1 tb Calvados or applejack

  7. 3 Egg whites

  8. 1/4 ts Cream of tartar

  9. 8x8x2-inch baking dish. Pour margarine over apples. Sprinkle with

  10. 2 tb sugar, raisins and Calvados. Cover and cook at

  11. 350 deg. until apples are tender, about 30 minutes. Beat together egg

  12. 1/4 cup sugar,

  13. 1 tb at a time. Continue beating on high speed until stiff and glossy. Spread over apples. Bake until Meringue is golden brown.

  14. 12 to 15 minutes. --
