  1. 1/4 pound salt pork

  2. 2 large onions -- chopped

  3. 1 carrot -- diced

  4. 1 cup chopped celery

  5. 1 green pepper -- diced

  6. 2 cups cooked tomatoes

  7. 4 cups water thyme salt and pepper

  8. 2 dozen large clams -- shucked and minced crackers

  1. Preparation : Dice salt pork, brown and remove cracklings from fat. Brown onions, carrot, celery and green pepper lightly in the fat. Add tomatoes, water and seasonings. Cook for 10 minutes. Add clams with liquor and simmer until tender. Thicken with crushed crackers.
