  2. 4 pounds beef round steak, cut into 1 inch cubes

  3. 4 cups sliced carrots

  4. 2 cups sliced celery

  5. 4 medium onions, peeled and sliced

  6. two 5 ounce cans water chestnuts, drained and sliced

  7. two 6 ounce cans sliced mushrooms, drained

  8. 1/4 cup 2 tbsp. all purpose flour

  9. 2 tbsp. sugar

  10. 2 tbsp. salt

  11. two 16 ounce cans chopped tomatoes

  12. 2 cups burgundy wine or beef broth

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Mix meat, carrots, celery, onions, water chestnuts and mushrooms in a large roasting pan. Mix together flour, sugar and salt in a small bowl. Stir into meat mixture. Stir in tomatoes and wine or broth. Cover and bake 4 hours until meat is tender.
