  1. Recipe says: "We suggest candied fruit, almonds, & raisins for these Christmassy squares, but feel free to substitute other nuts, slivered dried apricots or chocolate chips.

  2. Preheat oven to 350 F

  3. Blondies:

  4. 1/2 cup butter, softened

  5. 3/4 cup packed brown sugar

  6. 1 egg

  7. 1 tsp. vanilla

  8. 1 cup all-purpose flour

  9. 1/2 tsp. baking powder

  10. 1/4 tsp. salt

  11. 1/4 tsp. ginger

  12. 1 cup chopped candied fruit

  13. 1/2 cup toasted chopped almonds

  14. 1/4 cup golden raisins

  15. Orange Icing:

  16. 1 cup icing sugar

  17. 2 Tbs. butter, softened

  18. 4 Tsp. orange juice concentrate

  19. 8" square cake pan. Bake

  20. 25-30 minutes, or until tester inserted into center comes out clean. Let cool on rack.

  21. To Make Orange Icing: In mixing bowl, blend sugar and butter. Stir in orange juice until smooth. Spread over blondies. Store in air tight container at room temperature for 2 days before cutting (can be frozen for up to 4 months).
